Compound Emissions in Rendering Operations |
Based on the EPA’s Meat Rendering Plants Final Report of 1995, the air stream from a rendering operation could contain the following compounds:
- Particulate
- Ammonia
- Hydrogen Sulfide
- Organic Sulfides
- Disulfides
- C-4 to C-7 Aldehydes
- Trimethylamine
- C-4 Amines
- Quinoline
- Dimethyl Pyrazine
- Other Pyrazines
- C-3 to C-6 Organic Acids
- C-4 to C-7 Alcohols
- Ketones
- Aliphatic Hydrocarbons
- Aromatic Compounds

Most of these emissions should be removed in the condensers. The remaining water soluble compounds can be removed with a wet air scrubber and a reaction chemical. REACT-OX® is formulated to provide a reaction for each of these water soluble compounds.
Hydro Solutions research has centered on the reaction kinetics involved and the chemical properties that are required for quick reactions to take place.
