Oxidation of Organic Compounds

Oxidation of organic compounds typically found in animal rendering wet air scrubbers will follow the below process when oxidized by chlorine dioxide, ozone and others. Some Amines & Alcohols oxidize to Aldhydes & Keytones which will oxidize to Organic Acids. Not all compounds will oxidize under wet air scrubber conditions. Chlorine dioxide and ozone do not oxidize compounds past the organic acid stage in the conditions present in the wet air scrubber. This means that the original compounds will not be removed, but will be converted to different compounds with potentially offensive odors present in the exhaust air stream. *
