All potable drinking water additives follow established guidelines to be considered safe for human consuption. There are two organizations that regulate the safety of these products. Both offer certification to meet ANSI Standard 60 for drinking water additives.
Potable Corrosion Inhibitors are products that contain phosphoric acid, simple phosphates, condensed phosphates (polyphosphates), silicates, zinc salts, and pH buffers in combinations that are approved for human consumption. All blended Potable Corrosion Inhibitors should offer both cathodic and anodic corrosion inhibition. In addition these products should sequester iron and manganese and inhibit scale formation.
